The Bežigrad library is one of the largest libraries within the LCL and is divided into departments that facilitate different age and target groups.
At the children and youth department playbooks may be borrowed by the youngest, or picture books and tales by slightly older children. Didactic and board games may be borrowed as well. Each week fairy-tale hours, educational workshops or puppet shows may be attended. The children and youth department also provides space for playing to our youngest library users.
A separate part of the library is provided for the youth – furnished with couches and an LCD screen, where films of your own choice may be watched and where board games may be played. Space is also provided for doing homework. The permanent exhibition of Kristina Brenk, who has as an editor, a translator and an author laid the foundations of quality youth-book to several generations, is set up at the youth department.
Adults have two reading rooms at their disposal: the newspaper reading room on the ground floor and the studies reading room at the first floor. The studies reading room facilitates for reading and studying by the use of computers, while the life-long learning-corner provides multimedia materials for the learning of foreign languages and of computing.
The film department provides a large collection of movies that may be borrowed home or watched at our LCD screen. For all chess lovers this popular game is also available at our library.
Events for adults are numerous and diversified. Weeklong or all-yearlong foreign language educational courses are also being organized.
There is a rich choice of library materials: besides professional literature and works of fiction for all ages and in several languages daily newspapers and magazines as well as a varied collection of non-book materials are offered.
