Library Šiška is situated on Trg Komandanta Staneta (Commander Stane Square) 8 in a new residential commercial building along Celovška cesta (Celovec Road) close to a bus stop of LPP (Ljubljana City Transport).

Appealing to visitors are numerous reading spaces and computer points, which can be found throughout the library on two floors.

On the ground floor there is a large reading room offering newspapers and magazines from various fields. Next to the reading room you can find a separate spacious study room, in which students prepare for school or exams.

Computers with internet access and small reading spaces are available on the ground floor as well as on the first floor. Wireless network (Libroam and Eduroam) is also available.

A special feature of the library are its unique specialized collections:

  • Dog books collection offers materials on dog raising and training and on individual breeds. Materials are not intended for everyday use only as you can also find specialized knowledge, such as training hunting or working dogs. We organize regular educational workshops for children on responsible dog ownership and on distinctive features and needs of individual breeds.
  • Equestrian collection offers very diverse materials on horse raising as well as on equestrian sports, from basic knowledge of riding to top-notch knowledge in this field. Books on equestrian sports are complemented by documentary video recordings, which distinctly show and explain horse training.

In Šiška Library we organize numerous entertaining and educational events for all age groups of visitors with different interests. For children we organize story time, creative workshops and educational workshops on dogs. We offer foreign languages workshops as well.

In cooperation with Helping Paws Club we regularly organize meetings called Reading with paws, at which children read books to real dogs, thus gaining self-confidence at public speaking and improving fluent and loud reading. Children calm down when touching and communicating with a patient and well-trained therapy dog and get a positive experience from the contact with an animal.

For adults we regularly organize literary evenings, lectures on diverse topical subjects, educational workshops and travel lectures.

The library offers secondhand bookselling, that is selling books that have been donated or written off at very low prices. There is always a wide choice of fiction, non-fiction and books for children and young adults.
