Šentjošt Library is located on the first floor of the Ivan Cankar Cultural House in Šentjošt above Horjul. It has more than fifty active members and it offers over 3.000 library items. The collection includes fiction, non-fiction and non-book materials. Literature for the young prevails as the majority of users are primary and secondary school children. The library is managed by amateur librarian Barbara Plestenjak.
The library was established in the 1950s by the Cultural Artistic Society Ivan Cankar Šentjošt. It has developed by means of donations from members, purchases of materials and endeavours of librarians. In this way the book Pregled zgodovine SHS (Historical review of Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes) from 1925 has been preserved in the collection. Initially the library was located in the old building of the cultural house. When a new cultural house was built in 1974, it was moved to its basement spaces and later on to larger spaces on the first floor, where it still functions today. The library was completely renovated and was reopened in April 2004.
The library has a small collection of videos, DVDs and CDs. It has no newspapers and magazines.
