Encouragement in acquiring knowledge in issues of youth librarianship
school and youth librarians
Professional Wednesdays stem from the fundamental efforts of the Centre for Youth Literature and Librarianship to constantly improve its staff and spread their knowledge among other youth librarians. The first professional seminar was prepared by Pionirska Library in 1956 and has been organized as a regular form of education of youth public and school librarians since 1972, every other Wednesday (hence the name). The programme including the themes and participants is prepared a year in advance; the cycle includes the school period from October to May. Professional Wednesdays are attended on average by 70 librarians per month.
