Points of Life-long Learning are centres, where additional knowledge may be acquired or existing knowledge may be strengthened free of charge. They offer a modern, active and efficient approach to learning with the help of a mentor, who advises the participant over the choice of study materials, monitors the participant’s progress, and provides encouragement at meeting the set goals.
Points of Life-long Learning are a form of individual assistance at the use of emails, the writing and formation of texts, the processing of pictures, the publication of ads, etc. where the use of computers is taught by a mentor. Computer with internet access and library materials may be used in the process.
Points are intended for adults, who wish for a free of charge and an autonomous learning or for a brush up on knowledge or skills from various fields. They are of particular assistance to the young, the unemployed, and the elderly.
Points of Life-long Learning are the result of the project titled “Centre for Life-long Learning of the Ljubljana Urban Region” which was co-financed by the European Union through the European Social Fund and by the Ministry of Education, Science and Sport of the Republic of Slovenia. It was carried out within the framework of Operational Programme for Human Resources Development for the Period 2007–2013. Activities of Points of Life-long Learning are currently being carried out within the library’s regular activities.
